Syracuse Basketball a Strong Contender for 4-Star DMV Guard Acaden Lewis, Experts Say

Syracuse basketball is emerging as a key contender in the recruitment of Acaden Lewis, a four-star guard and top-40 national prospect in the 2025 class from Washington, D.C., according to a leading national analyst and several insiders.

Lewis, who has been rising quickly in the rankings, announced his top eight schools earlier this summer, which includes Syracuse, Kentucky, UConn, North Carolina, Duke, Tennessee, Michigan, and Auburn.

The 6-foot-3 guard has already taken unofficial visits to several schools, including Syracuse on August 1. Reports suggest that Lewis will soon reveal his official visit schedule.

For Syracuse to secure Lewis, it’s likely that the coaching staff will need to get him to visit the campus officially. Lewis is a standout rising senior at the nationally ranked Sidwell Friends School in D.C. and has impressed while playing for the 17U Team Durant in Nike’s EYBL league.

Syracuse basketball seems to be in a strong position with Lewis. Earlier this week, Rivals.com national analyst Rob Cassidy discussed Lewis’ recruitment, identifying Syracuse and UConn as “major players” and suggesting that both schools are almost certain to receive official visits from Lewis when he announces his travel plans in the coming weeks.

However, Cassidy also notes that other schools in Lewis’ top eight remain in contention. The recruitment of other 2025 guard targets by these teams could influence Lewis’ decision. For example, UConn is pursuing five-star shooting guard Meleek Thomas, while Kentucky and North Carolina are in the mix for five-star shooting guard Jasper Johnson, who is expected to announce his decision next week. Additionally, Duke, Miami, and Florida are reportedly in the running for five-star point guard Cayden Boozer.

While the situation is still developing, one thing is clear: since offering Lewis a scholarship in late April, Syracuse has made him a top priority in their 2025 recruiting class. Cassidy noted that “Syracuse, which recently hosted Lewis for an unofficial visit, has made the talented guard an extremely high priority since offering back in April. Head coach Adrian Autry will need to get him back on campus for an official this fall in order to seal the deal. Most believe that sort of visit is in the cards, and what happens if it does could determine the direction of Lewis’ process.”

Insiders following Lewis’ recruitment have indicated that while things can change, Syracuse is currently in a strong position, which is promising. As of now, there are no analyst predictions for Lewis on 247Sports, Rivals.com, or On3, but more clarity is expected once his official visit schedule is announced.

While the outcome is still uncertain, Syracuse’s coaching staff, with their strong recruiting connections in the D.C. area, has put in significant effort with Lewis, which could pay off when he makes his final decision.
