BREAKING NEWS: Denver Bronco veteran is leaving for good

Former Broncos star Terrell Davis is joining Colorado State University (CSU) as the “rambassador” for the school’s athletics department, CSU announced Thursday. Davis, a Super Bowl champion and NFL Hall of Famer, will take on this role as part of the university’s Presidential Executive in Residence program, which brings in accomplished experts to enhance CSU’s excellence across various fields.

The first presidential executive in residence was Major League Baseball broadcaster Jenny Cavnar, a CSU alumna and the first woman to serve as a primary play-by-play announcer for an MLB team.

As the “rambassador,” Davis will have an active presence at home football games, work with student-athletes and coaches across all CSU sports, and participate in university events. He’ll also engage with donors and speak to classes, according to CSU.

“Davis will elevate CSU Athletics in many ways—from directly supporting student-athletes to raising awareness for specific sports and assisting with fundraising and NIL (name, image, and likeness),” said CSU’s Director of Athletics, John Weber. “Having TD involved will significantly enhance and amplify all the great things happening here at CSU.”

Davis was a key player in the Broncos’ Super Bowl victories in the 1997-98 and 1998-99 seasons, with his 1998 performance standing out as one of the best by a running back in NFL history. He is also credited with starting the Broncos’ “mile high salute” celebration. Davis retired in 2001 after injuries shortened his final three seasons.

After retiring, Davis founded DEFY, a sports nutrition company inspired by his struggles with injury and inflammation. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2017.

“Colorado is my home, and I’ve been looking for the right way to give back to this state that’s given me so much,” Davis said. “I want to help this university compete at the highest level both on and off the field. If I can contribute even a little, it will make a big difference.”

Davis’s collaboration with CSU began after he met CSU President Amy Parsons at the Dancing with the Denver Stars Gala, an annual charity event hosted by the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble.

“TD has invaluable experience and knowledge to share across our campus,” Parsons said. “I see opportunities for him to speak about his entrepreneurial journey with business students or share insights on injury recovery with our Health and Exercise Science students.”

Recently, Davis made headlines over a dispute with United Airlines after he was detained on a plane and subsequently banned from flying with the airline.
