Breaking News: Titans’ Treylon Burks leaves practice early with injury

Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks exited practice early after a hard fall on his hip, according to Jim Wyatt. Fortunately, Burks was able to walk off on his own, suggesting the injury might not be too serious.

Even with a deep receiving corps, Burks is a key target for quarterback Will Levis. In 2023, the 24-year-old recorded just 16 receptions for 221 yards, but he is expected to take on a larger role in the 2024 season.

Tennessee is also missing top receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who is recovering from a knee sprain suffered earlier this month. Initially, Hopkins was expected to be out for 4-6 weeks, but he could be back in time for Week 1 against the Chicago Bears.

The Titans’ receiving unit includes Burks, Tyler Boyd, Hopkins, and Calvin Ridley, giving Levis plenty of options. Burks, a 2022 first-round pick, is under pressure to deliver in 2024 after struggling with injuries in his first two seasons, including a concussion in his rookie year and a knee injury last season. He has appeared in 22 games, with 15 starts, and has totaled 49 catches for 665 yards and one touchdown. Burks has two years remaining on his rookie contract, with Tennessee holding a team option for 2025.

The Titans wrap up their preseason on August 25 against the New Orleans Saints. After finishing last season with a 6-11 record at the bottom of the AFC South, expectations for the team are higher this year. It remains to be seen whether Burks will be available for this weekend’s game.
