GOOD NEWS: Calgary Flames confirms the return of another phenomenal forward and defenceman.

The Calgary Flames have announced the re-signing of forward Adam Klapka and defenseman Yan Kuznetsov to one-year contract extensions. These two-way contracts are valued at US$750,000 at the NHL level.

Klapka played six games with the Flames last season, scoring his first NHL goal on April 18 in a 5-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks. Kuznetsov appeared in one game, logging 11:58 of ice time and recording two shots in a 6-3 win against the Ottawa Senators on January 9. Both players spent the bulk of the 2023-24 season with the Calgary Wranglers in the AHL.

Klapka, 23, led the Wranglers in scoring with 21 goals and 25 assists and had a plus-8 defensive rating, the second-best on the team. He also contributed seven points (two goals, five assists) in six Calder Cup playoff games.

Kuznetsov, 22, played 63 games with the Wranglers, scoring five goals and adding eight assists. Klapka, from Prague, Czechia, initially joined the Flames as a free agent on May 16, 2022. Kuznetsov, hailing from Murmansk, Russia, was selected by the Flames in the second round (50th overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft.
