Offensive tackle Teddy Prochazka faces another season-ending knee injury, marking a painful repeat of the past.
Prochazka, the left tackle, will soon undergo his fourth knee surgery in as many years after tearing his ACL, as announced by head coach Matt Rhule this morning.
“Despite the setback, he was in the team meeting last night with an incredible attitude. He truly represents everything we stand for,” Rhule said.
Prochazka appeared in five games as a freshman in 2021, starting two, before suffering his first knee injury. He started two games in 2022 before another injury cut his season short, leading to a redshirt. After missing the first two games of his sophomore season, he played in the final 10, starting six of them—five at left tackle and one as an extra lineman.
Next Man Up
Several players could step in at left tackle, but here are my top three candidates:
Turner Corcoran: Corcoran started the first seven games at left tackle in 2023 before suffering his own knee injury, after which Teddy replaced him. Corcoran also started at the position in 2021 and 2022. Though he has experience, his performance has been inconsistent, leading to discussions of a potential move to guard. However, he has reportedly elevated his game and was possibly in line to start over Teddy.
Gunner Gottula: A freshman in 2023, Gottula made the depth chart and played in four games at tackle, preserving his redshirt. After a year in the weight room, he could be a strong contender if the coaches prefer Corcoran at guard or if Corcoran doesn’t show improvement.

Grant Brix: A highly-touted recruit out of Iowa, Brix chose Nebraska over the Hawkeyes. With the athleticism to start as a true freshman, Brix could see early playing time if he impresses in practice.
