Marion native Anthony Switzer shared his journey to becoming a Razorback as Arkansas football continued fall camp on Wednesday morning. A standout from Football Friday Night, Switzer spoke with the media after practice.
Switzer joined Arkansas as a graduate transfer after starting his college career at Arkansas State, where he recorded 91 tackles from 2019 to 2021. He then transferred to Utah State, where he tallied 85 tackles last season.
Now, Switzer is getting playing time at both linebacker and in the secondary.
“I knew they would use me in a versatile role to help the defense,” Switzer said in a press conference. “With my experience playing various positions, I knew coming in that T-Will would move me around, working with Coach Woods and Coach T-Will. It’s different, though, going from shedding blocks by receivers to dealing with 300-pound linemen trying to block you. It requires a different technique.”
Switzer also reflected on the opportunity to finish his college career in the SEC.
“I’ve always dreamed of being a Razorback. Unfortunately, I didn’t get that chance right out of high school, but I didn’t let that stop my dream. I just took a different path. It all worked out in God’s time, not mine. So I’m here when I’m supposed to be, and I’m grateful to be home, making the most of this opportunity.”
Arkansas will hold their second scrimmage of fall camp on Thursday, with the season opener set for August 29th against UAPB at War Memorial Stadium.
