Yankees receive unfortunate injury news on their recent acquisition, Jazz Chisholm. Concerns about Chisholm’s durability quickly surfaced, as New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone announced on Tuesday that the newly-acquired infielder has suffered a UCL injury in his left elbow and will likely be placed on the injured list, according to Jack Curry of YES Network.
The 28-year-old Chisholm appears to have sustained the injury during a head-first slide into home plate in Monday’s game against the Chicago White Sox. Chisholm, a former All-Star, was acquired by the Yankees just two weeks ago in a trade with the Miami Marlins. He had been performing exceptionally well, hitting .316 with seven home runs in just 14 games, while also embracing a new position and winning over the notoriously demanding New York fans.
However, Chisholm’s injury history has always been a concern. He missed 102 games in the 2022 season and another 65 in 2023 due to various injuries. Although he throws right-handed and bats left-handed, this is still a significant setback for a Yankees team that has already had a rough week.
