It didn’t take long for some of the concerns surrounding Jazz Chisholm to come to fruition.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone announced some disappointing injury news on Tuesday regarding the team’s newly acquired infielder, Chisholm. According to Jack Curry of YES Network, Boone revealed that Chisholm has suffered a UCL injury in his left elbow, likely placing him on the injured list.

It seems that Chisholm, 28, sustained the injury while executing a head-first slide into home plate during Monday’s game against the Chicago White Sox.

Yankees' Jazz Chisholm Leaves Game with Injury

The former All-Star was acquired by the Yankees just two weeks ago in a pre-deadline trade with the Miami Marlins. Chisholm had been off to an impressive start in New York, hitting .316 with seven home runs in just 14 games. He even embraced an unexpected position change and was handling the pressure from New York fans admirably.

However, one persistent concern with Chisholm has been his injury history. He missed 102 games in the 2022 season and another 65 in 2023 due to various injuries. While it may be somewhat fortunate that Chisholm throws right-handed (despite batting left-handed), this injury is a tough setback for a Yankees team that has already been struggling this week.
