Good News: Utah Utes Just Welcome A Talented Player On Board

Nathan Tilmon shared his relief and excitement about committing to Utah, describing the decision as a weight lifted off his shoulders. “It feels great, I’m so glad to be a Ute!” he said.

For recruits and their families, committing is a significant and memorable experience, filled with both excitement and relief from the pressures of the recruiting process. It’s a big moment for the coaches as well. Tilmon recounted how he informed the coaches earlier in the week, wearing his Utah hat from his official visit. “I called them and said, ‘I’m ready,’ and Coach Scalley went crazy,” Tilmon explained. “Scalley started yelling, ‘Tilmon committed, Tilmon committed,’ and then I talked to Coach Shah and Coach Whitt. They were all excited.”

Tilmon’s family, who played an important role throughout his recruitment, shares in his excitement. His older brother had gone through the recruiting process a few years earlier, and his father provided guidance along the way. Tilmon’s recruitment journey began last summer and picked up pace after his junior season, with interest from numerous programs. Utah became a key contender in January, prioritizing Tilmon and bringing him and his family in for an official visit in June. Experiencing life outside of Texas, particularly in Salt Lake City, made a strong impact on Tilmon.

“Salt Lake City is like a dream, I’m not gonna lie,” Tilmon said. “As a Texas boy, waking up at the Grand America during my visit and seeing the snow-capped mountains was something you just don’t see in Texas.” Tilmon’s commitment is a significant addition to Utah’s 2025 recruiting class, bolstering the future of their safety position.
