Good News: Florida Gators Just Welcome Another Top Talented Star

Four-star defensive line commit Jeramiah McCloud, one of 26 recruits at Florida’s Grill in the Ville cookout last Saturday, spent time recruiting during his visit. Gator Country spoke with the 6’3, 280-pound native of Leesburg, Georgia, about his unofficial visit and future plans.

McCloud appreciated the relaxed atmosphere of the cookout, which allowed him to connect with coaches and fellow commits.

“It was fun. We had a lot of fun,” McCloud said of the visit. “Building relationships with coaches. I chilled with coach Chatman, played a couple games with coach Napier. I really just got to chill with a couple commits.” He also used his time in Gainesville to recruit several uncommitted prospects, including recent Ohio State commit Jarquez Carter.

“He committed to Ohio State, so with him being here today that shows a lot. That means something. I just kept that in his mind that Florida is the place for him,” McCloud said about Carter.

“Florida is a great fit. The relationships with the coaches, they’re always going to be there, they’re great people, just outside of football,” McCloud added.

Despite Florida’s 2025 class getting off to a slow start, McCloud remains optimistic, citing a silent commit over the weekend according to multiple sources.

“I think with the new commit we just got, people are definitely going to start riding the wave with the very big commit we just got,” McCloud said. “Florida is on the way back up, I definitely see that.” Although McCloud is committed to Florida, he plans to use all his official visits during the season.

“I’m locked in. I just like to keep my recruitment open to make sure it’s the right fit for me. I just want to see what other schools have to offer,” McCloud said.

The Lee County High School standout plans to visit Georgia, LSU, FSU, and Auburn this fall.
