BREAKING NEWS: Rutgers Lands Another Top Experience Star

Rutgers Adds 4-Star Linebacker Kamar Archie to Historic 2025 Recruiting Class

Rutgers football has secured a significant addition to its historic 2025 recruiting class with the commitment of Kamar Archie, a 4-star linebacker from Hun School in Princeton, N.J. Archie, who may have the most potential among the recruits, is the tenth high school junior to join Rutgers’ class with a four-star ranking.

Heading into the offseason, Archie was already considered New Jersey’s most college-ready defender. His impressive physical metrics include squatting 495 pounds three times and broad jumping 10 feet six inches. Archie, who has a national offer list and demonstrates exceptional maturity and elite athleticism, is a formidable presence on the field.

Ranked as the second-best junior in New Jersey by NJ.com, Archie took official visits to Clemson and Michigan and received offers from prestigious programs like Georgia, Florida, Miami, Notre Dame, and Texas A&M, among others. However, after three years of being courted by Rutgers coach Greg Schiano and his staff, Archie decided Rutgers was the right fit.

“We’ve had that connection for a while,” Archie told NJ Advance Media. “Seeing what they are doing with the program and culture really opened my eyes. I always thought Rutgers was a place I could fit in and do something special. This week, I got that gut feeling and made my decision.”

During his official visit to Rutgers, Archie was hosted by linebackers Tyreem Powell and Sam Gadie. Rutgers was the first school to offer Archie during his freshman year at Ewing High School before he transferred to Hun and reclassified to the 2025 class, earning a national offer list.

Hun coach Todd Smith praised Archie’s unique combination of size, speed, power, and ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball.

A native of Trenton, Archie joins four other four-star defensive recruits at Rutgers: Chase Linton, DJ McClary, Tariq Hayer, and Talibi Kaba. With up to nine starters potentially leaving after the next fall, Rutgers will rely on these high school recruits to contribute early.

Rutgers has secured six of the top 15 players from New Jersey, projecting in-state pride for future recruiting cycles. The 2025 class ranking soared to as high as No. 5 nationally after adding 21 commitments, including N.J. four-stars Jae’lyne Matthews, Michael Thomas III, and John Forster. Rutgers also recently added its first 2026 recruit, three-star quarterback Gavin Sidwar from La Salle College in Wyndmoor, Pa.

Currently, Rutgers’ 2025 class features 29 players and ranks 11th nationally according to Rivals.com.

“Coach Schiano and I have had that bond for so long now that if I was to compare him to any other head coach, I trust him the most,” Archie said.
