utgers Football Lands 4-Star LB Kamar Archie, Boosting Historic 2025 Class
Rutgers Football continues its impressive streak on the recruiting trail by securing a commitment from The Hun School linebacker Kamar Archie. Archie’s recruitment journey began over three years ago when he was a freshman at Ewing High in New Jersey before transferring and re-classifying into the 2025 class at Hun in Princeton. He made his official visit to Rutgers on the weekend of June 14th.
Rutgers outcompeted a host of powerhouse programs, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Clemson, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC, Washington, and Wisconsin. This level of success seemed unimaginable before Greg Schiano returned to Piscataway in December 2019, rejuvenating a struggling program in the tough Big Ten Conference.
As of July 5th, 2024, the Scarlet Knights are coming off a winning season capped by a Pinstripe Bowl victory over the Miami Hurricanes and currently boast a Top-15 recruiting class. The 6-foot-1, 228-pound Archie is already primed for college football, promising to be a dynamic addition to a Rutgers defense known for its activity, toughness, and excellence. Archie joins other four-star commitments from New Jersey, including running back John Forster, offensive tackle Jaelyne Matthews, and fellow linebacker DJ McClary, who flipped from Penn State to Rutgers in June.
Archie brings remarkable speed to the 2025 unit, a hallmark of defensive coordinator Joe Harasymiak’s system, thanks to his background in track. Hun head coach Todd Smith commends Archie’s work ethic and team-first mentality, both vital attributes in Schiano’s programs.
Quotable “Kamar Archie is physically the most gifted player I have ever coached. He possesses elite size, speed, and power, with the ability to dominate football games on both sides of the ball as a linebacker or running back. His exceptional work ethic is evident as he consistently puts in the effort to improve every day. Kamar isn’t afraid of hard work and continually pushes himself to get better. Additionally, he is a great teammate and a natural leader (courtesy Rivals).”
