Four-Star Receiver Travis Smith Jr. Commits to Tennessee
Tennessee made a significant move in recruiting on Saturday by securing a commitment from four-star receiver Travis Smith Jr. from Georgia. Initially considered a strong candidate for Georgia, Smith’s final official visit to Tennessee seemed to clinch his decision for the Volunteers. Smith stands at 6-4 and weighs 200 pounds. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, he is the 113th ranked player nationally in the 2025 class, the 16th ranked receiver, and the 14th ranked player from Georgia.
On3 ranks Smith even higher, placing him as the 59th overall player in the class.
The Atlanta native chose Tennessee over Auburn, Alabama, and Georgia. Smith took official visits to each of his finalists in June. He had visited Knoxville several times over the past year after receiving his Tennessee offer last September, attending games against Texas A&M and Georgia.
Smith brings a much-needed big body to Tennessee’s recruiting class. While he may not possess elite speed, he excels in contested catch situations, using his height to outjump defenders. Smith is the 17th commitment for Tennessee in the 2025 cycle, moving the Volunteers up to No. 11 in the overall class rankings, according to 247Sports.
