BREAKING: Just In Detroit Tigers Confirm 2 Additional Blockbuster Deal

The Detroit Tigers have chosen Vanderbilt commit Owen Hall, a right-handed pitcher, in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft. Hall now faces the decision of starting his professional career immediately or attending college.

Having recently completed his senior year at Edmond North High School in Oklahoma, Hall played a key role in leading the team to the state tournament quarterfinals during his junior year, alongside shortstop and Nebraska commit Pryce Bender. Hall’s father, a former college pitcher for Arkansas, has been a significant mentor. Known for his fastball that can reach up to 98 mph, Hall was named an all-state selection and is ranked as the No. 3 player in Oklahoma’s 2024 class by Prep Baseball Report. At 18 years old, he shows considerable talent and potential for further growth.

Should Hall opt for college, he will join a Vanderbilt team that finished the previous season with a 38-23 record, positioning them as a strong contender in the SEC.

According to MLB.com, Hall has the potential to throw a mid-90s fastball in the pros, with particular praise for his slider. The scouting report highlights his fastball, which sits at 91-94 mph and can reach 98 mph, as well as his athleticism and 6-foot-3 frame. Hall throws two distinct breaking balls: a promising low-80s slider and a mid-70s curveball, which, although inconsistent, generates swings and misses. While he rarely uses his mid-80s changeup, it could develop into an average pitch with more use and greater velocity separation from his fastball. Hall’s high arm slot enhances the vertical break on his fastball and the depth of his breaking pitches. While he already has good fastball control, he needs to improve the control of his secondary pitches.
