BREAKING: Nebraska add 2 class stars with commitment announcements on tap

Could Nebraska bolster its class with upcoming commitment announcements? Nebraska Cornhuskers are closely watching the decisions of 2025 prospects Aiden Manutai and Bryson Webber, who are set to make their commitments in the coming days.

Both Manutai and Webber are defensive backs who visited Nebraska in June when Evan Cooper was the team’s defensive backs coach. However, Cooper resigned less than a week ago, and John Butler was announced as the new defensive backs coach on Thursday. This change could impact Nebraska’s recruitment efforts.

Manutai, a Hawaiian defender, will announce his commitment on the 247Sports YouTube channel on Friday at 5 PM central time. Previously considered a Nebraska lean, the coaching change might have shifted momentum towards Cal or another team. Manutai is a three-star safety deciding between Arizona, Cal, Nebraska, Tennessee, and Washington. While Nebraska seemed to be in a strong position following his visit, Cal gained some momentum, particularly with the commitment of Hawaii prep quarterback Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele and his peer recruiting efforts. Although Nebraska’s commit Houston Kaahaaina-Torres has also been peer recruiting, the momentum isn’t as strong as it was two weeks ago, making Manutai’s decision uncertain.

Huskers expecting a lot from Freedom

Webber, a prep cornerback, is also expected to announce his commitment this week. He visited Nebraska during the final weekend of June and initially seemed likely to choose the Huskers. However, Webber postponed his decision to see how Nebraska would replace Cooper. He has since been in contact with the new defensive backs coach, Butler, and has indicated a decision could come on Saturday, or Sunday at the latest. Webber is choosing between Nebraska, TCU, and Utah.
