GOOD NEWS: Just In Tiger Former Top Star Announces His Return

The Tigers have made several roster changes, bringing Javy Báez back to Detroit. Báez has been out of the lineup since June 11 due to lumbar spine inflammation. Fans, who have been watching Ryan Kreidler struggle with a 37.5% strikeout rate, might still prefer this over Báez’s performance.

Báez started a rehab assignment in Triple-A on June 2. Manager AJ Hinch’s comments about an “extensive” rehab gave fans hope for a longer absence. However, Báez performed well in Triple-A, leading to his reinstatement and Kreidler being optioned back to Toledo just before the Tigers’ seven-game homestand.

Additionally, the Tigers placed Parker Meadows on the IL after an injury on Sunday. Although there was hope he wouldn’t need an IL stint, his performance in Triple-A had been promising. Akil Baddoo was recalled to replace Meadows, marking his third time in the majors this season, despite his .132 batting average and .582 OPS.

Detroit Tigers v Arizona Diamondbacks

This news is disappointing for Tigers fans, but there’s a glimmer of hope that Báez’s impressive Triple-A stats, batting .333 with a 1.052 OPS, might translate to better performance in Detroit. However, expectations remain low given his track record.
