Knicks’ Exhibit 10 Signee Alex O’Connell to Showcase Talent at Summer League

The 2024 NBA Vegas Summer League kicks off on July 12, with the Knicks debuting on July 13 against the Charlotte Hornets. O’Connell will have the opportunity to impress alongside the Knicks’ 2024 NBA Draft first and second-round picks, vying for a spot on the 12-man roster for the 2024-25 season.

O’Connell had an impressive collegiate career, despite going undrafted in 2024. The Georgia native averaged 11.8 points per game in his senior season at Creighton, adding 5.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.9 turnovers in 32.5 minutes per game. He also shot 32.7 percent from three-point range on 5.8 attempts per game, demonstrating his potential as a reliable volume shooter, though there is room for improvement in efficiency.

The Knicks are looking to deepen their point guard roster behind All-Star Jalen Brunson. The 6-6, 185-pound guard brings a notable size advantage for a backcourt player, especially at the point guard position, and possesses qualities that could catch the coaching staff’s attention during Summer League.

This summer, the Knicks released Duane Washington Jr., Charlie Brown Jr., and DaQuan Jeffries. O’Connell now joins rookies Pacome Dadiet, Tyler Kolek, Kevin McCullar Jr., Ariel Hukporti, and Jacob Toppin as part of the new wave of talent the franchise will develop for the future.
