Texas Tech has secured a commitment from 2025 three-star offensive lineman Patrick McMath, who made his announcement on social media Tuesday. The 6-foot-4, 255-pound lineman from Katy, Texas, committed shortly after an official visit to Texas Tech, which left a strong impression on him.

“The visit went super well,” McMath shared with Inside the Red Raiders. “My family and I had a great time. We enjoyed a lot of amazing food and spent time with the staff and players. My favorite part was hanging out with the team; you could see they had a true brotherhood.”

McMath chose Texas Tech over other offers from schools including Arizona, Baylor, BYU, Houston, Louisiana, Memphis, Pittsburgh, Rice, SMU, Texas State, Tulane, and UTSA. According to the 247Sports Composite, McMath is ranked as the No. 1,237 overall player in the country, the No. 91 interior offensive lineman nationally, and the No. 191 overall prospect in Texas. 247Sports itself rates him higher, as the No. 67 interior offensive lineman in the nation and the No. 163 overall recruit in Texas. McMath described his playing style: “I’m very quick, so wide zone and pulling are my specialties. I’m looking for a program with a great staff that can develop me to my full potential.”

Commit! Texas Tech lands 2025 OL Patrick McMath

McMath is the 14th commitment in Texas Tech’s 2025 recruiting class, which is currently ranked 25th in the nation and third in the Big 12. Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire mentioned the team’s recruitment strategy: “We’ll go somewhere between 18 and 20 high school guys. When we first got here, our roster was split, lacking middle players like redshirt sophomores and juniors. We’re transitioning to have more players in their third or fourth year, especially on the O-line and D-line. So, we’ll still aim for 18 to 20 recruits because our roster is still young with the current and incoming classes.”
