Green Bay Packers: A Bold Prediction for the 2024 Fantasy Football Season

Many Green Bay Packers players are expected to be drafted for fantasy football this season. The top two picks will likely be quarterback Jordan Love and running back Josh Jacobs. Other draftable players include wide receivers Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, and Jayden Reed. Additionally, several Packers might find spots on fantasy rosters throughout the season.

Potential waiver pickups from the Packers include rookie running back Marshawn Lloyd, tight end Luke Musgrave, and wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks. The Packers’ defense/special teams might also be an appealing option, depending on its adaptation to the new 4-3 scheme.

Fantasy Pros Predicts Marshawn Lloyd Will Be the Starter by Thanksgiving

Currently, Josh Jacobs is the starting running back for the Packers, with veteran A.J. Dillon as the backup and rookie Marshawn Lloyd as the third-string back heading into training camp.

Fantasypros.com staff predicts significant changes, suggesting that Jacobs will lose his starting role by Thanksgiving. They note:

“Jacobs signed a massive four-year deal with the Packers in free agency, boosting his dynasty value. However, Green Bay can easily exit his contract after this season. Despite an outstanding 2022, Jacobs regressed last year, with declines in yards per carry (29%), explosive run rate (52%), and yards after contact per attempt (29%) according to Fantasy Points Data. Don’t be surprised if Marshawn Lloyd takes over as the starter by Thanksgiving.”

Last season with the Las Vegas Raiders, Jacobs rushed for 805 yards on 233 carries, scoring six touchdowns, and averaged 3.5 yards per carry. He also caught 37 passes for 296 yards, averaging 8.0 yards per catch. In contrast, Lloyd rushed for 820 yards on 116 carries, scoring nine touchdowns, and averaged 7.1 yards per carry in 11 games for the USC Trojans. He also caught 13 passes for 232 yards, averaging 17.8 yards per reception.

Green Bay’s offensive coordinator, Adam Stenavich, plans to use the rookie running back frequently. While predicting Jacobs will lose his starting job by Thanksgiving is bold, a season of shared carries between Jacobs and Lloyd seems plausible.
