Texas Tech Secures Commitment from 2025 OL Patrick McMath
Texas Tech has secured a commitment from Patrick McMath, a three-star offensive lineman for the class of 2025, who made his announcement via social media on Tuesday. Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 255 pounds, McMath hails from Katy, Texas, and made his decision following an official visit to Texas Tech, which clearly left a positive impression.
“The visit was fantastic,” McMath shared with Inside the Red Raiders. “My family and I enjoyed great food and quality time with the staff and players. The highlight for me was bonding with the team members; their camaraderie was evident.”
McMath chose Texas Tech over other offers from schools including Arizona, Baylor, BYU, Houston, Louisiana, Memphis, Pittsburgh, Rice, SMU, Texas State, Tulane, and UTSA. Ranked as the No. 1,237 player nationally, the No. 91 interior offensive lineman, and the No. 191 prospect in Texas by the 247Sports Composite, McMath is rated even higher by 247Sports itself, coming in at No. 67 among interior offensive linemen and No. 163 in Texas. “I excel in wide zone and pulling plays due to my speed,” McMath noted. “I’m seeking a program with a strong staff that can help me reach my full potential.”
McMath is the 14th recruit to join Texas Tech’s 2025 class, which ranks 25th nationally and third in the Big 12. Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire explained their recruitment strategy to Inside the Red Raiders, stating, “We’ll aim for between 18 and 20 high school recruits. Our roster initially had a gap in the middle years, but we’re transitioning to having more players in their third or fourth year, especially on the offensive and defensive lines.”
McGuire added, “Although we’re getting closer to our ideal roster composition, we’ll still recruit around 18 to 20 high school players due to the young makeup of our current and incoming classes.
