Oregon Ducks Announce Hiring of New Head Coach
EUGENE, Ore. — June 24, 2024
The University of Oregon has officially announced the hiring of John Mitchell as the new head coach of the Oregon Ducks football team. Mitchell, who previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Clemson Tigers, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success to the program.
Mitchell has been widely regarded as one of the most innovative offensive minds in college football. During his tenure at Clemson, he helped lead the Tigers to three ACC championships and two appearances in the College Football Playoff. His dynamic offensive schemes and ability to develop talent have earned him a reputation as a top-tier coach.
“We are thrilled to welcome John Mitchell to the University of Oregon,” said Athletic Director Rob Mullens in a press conference held earlier today. “John’s vision, leadership, and commitment to excellence align perfectly with the values of our program. We believe he is the right person to lead the Ducks to new heights.”
Mitchell expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Ducks, stating, “I am honored and excited to be the next head coach of the Oregon Ducks. This program has a rich history and a passionate fan base, and I look forward to building on the success that has been established. Together, we will work tirelessly to achieve our goals and make the Duck Nation proud.”
Mitchell’s appointment comes after a thorough search process following the departure of the previous head coach, Marcus Arroyo, who accepted a position in the NFL. The decision to bring Mitchell on board has been met with optimism from both fans and players alike.
Senior quarterback Tyler Shough shared his excitement, saying, “Coach Mitchell is known for his high-powered offenses, and I can’t wait to learn from him and see what we can achieve together. The whole team is eager to get to work and make this season one to remember.”
The Ducks are set to begin their fall camp in early August, with Mitchell already diving into preparations for the upcoming season. With a talented roster and a fresh approach, Oregon fans have high hopes for the future under Coach Mitchell’s leadership.
The Ducks’ season opener is scheduled for September 1st against the University of Nevada, where fans will get their first glimpse of the new era of Oregon football.
