Indiana Hoosiers Star Liam McNeeley Decommits from Team
Indiana Hoosiers’ basketball program has taken a significant hit as Liam McNeeley, the team’s top recruit for 2024, has decommitted. McNeeley, a 5-star forward from Montverde Academy, announced his decision to request a release from his National Letter of Intent on March 7, 2024.
McNeeley, ranked as the No. 16 player in the 2024 recruiting class, was the only recruit in Indiana’s class of 2024. He initially chose Indiana over other top programs, including Kansas and Alabama. His decision comes after Indiana’s head coach, Mike Woodson, was retained for the upcoming season. McNeeley described the decommitment as a difficult but necessary business decision for his future.
The McDonald’s All-American has had an impressive high school career, averaging 12.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.1 steals per game this season. Following his decommitment, McNeeley is now hearing from several top programs, including Michigan, Kansas, UConn, Houston, and Kentucky.
This decommitment leaves the Hoosiers without a recruit in their 2024 class and narrows their path to success next season.
