Seahawks Rework Contract of DT Jarran Reed
According to Brady Henderson, the Seahawks and defensive tackle Jarran Reed have agreed to modify his contract, converting $530,000 of potential incentives into part of his base salary. Henderson notes that while Reed’s maximum contract value remains unchanged, full details of the new deal will be disclosed soon.
Reed, 31, was drafted in the second round out of Alabama in 2016. He completed his initial four-year contract with Seattle, worth $4,889,636 including a $1,756,100 signing bonus, before signing a two-year, $23 million deal with the Seahawks in March 2020. After being cut by Seattle, Reed signed a one-year contract with the Chiefs in 2021 and then played on a one-year deal with the Packers before returning to Seattle on a two-year, $10.8 million deal in 2023.
In 2023, Reed played in 16 games for the Seahawks, recording 54 tackles, seven tackles for loss, seven sacks, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble, and two pass defenses.
