BYU Football Receives Commitment From 2025 Quarterback Prospect

PROVO, Utah – BYU football has secured a quarterback for its 2025 recruiting class. On Thursday, the Cougars announced the commitment of Nolan Keeney from Tualatin, Oregon.

Keeney, a three-star prospect, is ranked as the No. 43 quarterback in the 2025 class according to 247Sports’ Composite ranking. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Keeney had been on BYU’s radar for some time, but the Cougars extended an official scholarship offer only last month. Keeney committed to BYU nearly three weeks after receiving the offer.

“First off I’d like to thank God, because without him I wouldn’t be in this position. I’d like to thank my family and coaches for supporting me through this whole process,” Keeney wrote on X. “After a lot of thought and prayer, I am excited to announce my commitment to BRIGHAM YOUNG UNIVERSITY. I’d like to thank Coach A-Rod for blessing me with this opportunity. I can’t wait to be a part of this family!”

Keeney chose BYU over other offers from Boise State, Houston, Colorado State, San Diego State, Utah State, and more.

During his junior season at Tualatin High, Keeney suffered a collarbone injury that sidelined him for all but four weeks of the regular season. Despite this setback, Keeney was a crucial addition to BYU’s recruiting efforts, as the Cougars aim to sign one high school quarterback each season. Other quarterback targets for the 2025 cycle, such as Luke Carney (Syracuse) and Grady Adamson (Georgia Tech), committed elsewhere.

Keeney is considered a dual-threat quarterback, having rushed for seven touchdowns over the past two seasons at Tualatin.

BYU has a connection with Tualatin High School; one of their retired jerseys at LaVell Edwards Stadium belongs to former Doak Walker Award-winning running back Luke Staley, who also attended Tualatin.

Keeney’s commitment brings BYU’s 2025 recruiting class to seven commits, with four on offense, two on defense, and one specialist.
