Nevada Adds Indiana Transfer Nicole “Coco” Kolbas
The Nevada Women’s Golf program, led by Head Coach Kathleen Takaishi, has announced the addition of Nicole “Coco” Kolbas, a transfer from Indiana where she spent her freshman year.
“Coco had an outstanding amateur career and a solid freshman season at Indiana,” said Takaishi. “She is an exceptionally talented golfer with the potential to make an immediate impact on our program this coming season. I am incredibly excited that she has decided to join the Wolf Pack family, and we look forward to welcoming her to campus this fall.”
Kolbas, who attended Indiana for her freshman year following an impressive amateur career, competed in four events for the Hoosiers with a scoring average of 78.0. Her best performance was at the Chevron Collegiate, where she posted a season-low round of 73 and a 54-hole score of 229 (+13). Her top finish came at the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational, tying for 55th with a score of +18 (78-77-79=234).
Originally from Lincoln, Nebraska, Kolbas had a stellar amateur career, earning individual titles at the PGA Junior Girls Qualifier and the USGA Junior Girls Qualifier, as well as the Nebraska Junior Girls’ Amateur. At Lincoln Pius X High School, she was a four-time Nebraska All-State honoree, a state champion, a three-time Super State Coaches Association Award recipient, and set the Pius X HS scoring record.
Kolbas is the first transfer addition for Nevada this offseason, joining high school recruits Amy Na and Marina Nonaka as the third new member of the women’s golf program for the 2024-25 season. Kolbas will have three years of eligibility remaining with Nevada.
