Florida Football: Freshman Defensive Lineman Arrested in Georgia Traffic Incident

Michai Boireau faces multiple charges after allegedly driving up to 150 MPH in Georgia. Under Coach Billy Napier, incidents with the police involving Florida Football players have been rare. While walk-on wide receiver Brian Green Jr. faced battery charges in April, the Gators’ offseason has otherwise been free of legal issues.

As initially reported by Steve Reece of the Monroe County Reporter and confirmed by Swamp247 and On3, Michai Boireau has been charged with fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, obstructing law enforcement officers, speeding beyond maximum limits, reckless driving, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

According to police reports, Boireau was driving 86 MPH on I-75 when police began their pursuit. Instead of stopping, he accelerated to 150 MPH, collided with another vehicle during the chase, and was subsequently arrested. Boireau was released on a $60,000 bond.

Boireau, a three-star recruit, initially committed to Florida in June 2023, decommitted in September, and after visiting Georgia, recommitted to the Gators in December, signing on National Signing Day. He enrolled early and participated in spring camp with the Gators.
