Trade Proposal: Ravens Acquire 4-Time Pro Bowl Player from Patriots
The Baltimore Ravens, who lost key players on both sides of the ball this offseason, face a tough road back to the AFC Championship game. One significant loss was Jadeveon Clowney, who signed with the Carolina Panthers in free agency. To address this, Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report suggests the Ravens should pursue a trade for former draft pick Matthew Judon, who had a standout season with the New England Patriots in 2022, recording 15.5 sacks before suffering a torn bicep.
Ballentine argues that the Patriots, who are clearly in a rebuilding phase with $49.3 million in cap space, should consider trading Judon. He points out that Judon, who will be 32 and is coming off a serious injury, may not fit into the Patriots’ long-term plans. Trading Judon would also allow New England’s young players to get more playing time.
Given the Patriots’ rebuild, Ballentine sees the Ravens as a logical trade partner. Judon, familiar with Baltimore’s system, would benefit from playing for a contender rather than a rebuilding team. For the Ravens, Judon would provide much-needed experience and skill on the edge, especially with David Ojabo and Odafe Oweh still developing.
Ballentine proposes the following trade:
Patriots receive:
- 2025 fifth-round pick
- 2026 fifth-round pick
Ravens receive:
- Matthew Judon
Although the compensation is modest for a player of Judon’s caliber, the Patriots could use the draft picks to bolster their roster for future competitiveness. For the Ravens, acquiring Judon for two fifth-round picks could be crucial for their playoff aspirations, providing a defensive edge in key matchups against teams like the Kansas City Chiefs or Houston Texans.
