The seldom-used receiver entered the transfer portal in December. Most Florida Football players who entered the transfer portal last December quickly found new teams for the 2024 season. However, not everyone secured a new team right away. Over the weekend, one former player announced he has finally found a new home for the next season.
Florida Football: Rice
Thai Chiaokhiao-Bowman, who was rarely used during his time with the Gators, has found a new team. Initially a lower-level three-star prospect out of Minneapolis, he eventually transferred to Independence Community College, featured on the Netflix show Last Chance U. Chiaokhiao-Bowman became a top ten JUCO receiver according to 247Sports and committed to Florida ahead of the 2022 season.
During his time with the Gators, he made three catches against Vanderbilt and two against Oregon State as part of his seven-catch 2022 season, primarily playing on special teams. An injury sidelined him for most of the 2023 season, limiting him to two games with no catches. In December, he announced his departure from the Gators and entered the transfer portal.
After considering options, including an official visit to Ole Miss, Chiaokhiao-Bowman decided to take his talents to Houston to play for the Rice Owls in the 2024 season.
