Update on Devin Booker and Potential Trade from the Phoenix Suns
Rumors about Devin Booker potentially requesting a trade to the New York Knicks have surfaced as the Phoenix Suns concluded a disappointing season. Despite the star trio of Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal, the Suns fell short of expectations, ending with a first-round sweep by the Minnesota Timberwolves and the dismissal of head coach Frank Vogel.
With Mike Budenholzer now at the helm in Phoenix, new information has emerged regarding Booker’s future. Fans can breathe a sigh of relief, as Booker is not planning to request a trade anytime soon.
“I continue to hear that there is no Devin Booker, like, trade request coming,” ESPN’s Zach Lowe reported on Monday. This aligns with Suns owner Mat Ishbia’s statement after their playoff exit, emphasizing the desire to retain the big three.
Devin Booker to Remain with the Phoenix Suns Booker, 27, is under a four-year, $221.09 million contract extending through the 2027-28 season. Unless he requests a trade, he will remain with the Suns for the foreseeable future.
Last season, Booker averaged 27.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 6.9 assists per game, shooting 49% from the field and 36% from three-point range.
The broader question for Phoenix revolves around Kevin Durant’s future with the team. Durant’s tumultuous 2023-24 season has sparked speculation about a potential trade request, possibly returning to the Golden State Warriors.
Regardless, don’t expect Booker to push for a move back east, as Lowe’s report effectively quashes that notion.
