5. S Ifeatu Melifonwu
Melifonwu has dealt with injuries over his first three NFL seasons, but he showed promise when healthy last season. From Week 14 through the Divisional Round of the playoffs, he was Pro Football Focus’ seventh-highest graded safety. Entering the final year of his rookie contract, a full, healthy season could secure his place in Detroit for the foreseeable future.
4. DE Aidan Hutchinson
Hutchinson, a standout since his rookie season, is not eligible for an extension until after the upcoming season. The Lions have a fifth-year option to extend his contract, but like with Sewell, they might not wait to reward him.
