Louisville secures commitment from Stephen F. Austin transfer DL Brandon Lane
The University of Louisville football team has successfully recruited defensive lineman Brandon Lane from Stephen F. Austin. Lane, who visited Louisville unofficially over the weekend, has committed to join the Cardinals. He becomes the 28th transfer portal recruit to join the team for the upcoming fall camp, and the seventh for the defensive line or edge positions.
Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 300 pounds, Lane was also considering offers from Wisconsin, Michigan, and NC State among others. Lane, a highly sought-after player, received interest from around 30 schools. Although he initially committed to Michigan State in late April, he reopened his recruitment and eventually included Louisville in his final four choices.
As a sophomore at Stephen F. Austin, Lane recorded 44 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks. He had drawn attention from nearly 30 schools upon entering the transfer portal.
Lane originally joined South Dakota State as part of the 2020 class, where he saw limited playing time before transferring to Stephen F. Austin prior to the 2022 season.
