Former Bills Player Shares Candid Opinions on Josh Allen
For years, the Buffalo Bills have been on the cusp of reaching the Super Bowl, but obstacles have consistently blocked their path.
More often than not, that obstacle has been Patrick Mahomes. The Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback has solidified his position as the best in the league, becoming the primary rival during Josh Allen’s time with the Bills.
Yet, former Bills safety Jordan Poyer believes Allen surpasses Mahomes in skill.
In fact, Poyer considers Allen to be the top quarterback in the league right now (via Around the NFL):
“Seven years here, man,” Poyer said. “I cherished every moment. Thank you for letting me grow as a person and a player. Teammates, coaches, everyone, I loved it all. Sorry we didn’t achieve the ultimate goal, but you have the best quarterback in the league. I know that might cause a stir, but it’s okay. I’ll see you twice a year now. Can’t wait for you to come to Miami and for me to return to Orchard Park one more time.” Poyer recently moved to the AFC East Division rival Miami Dolphins after spending the last seven years with the Bills.
Despite the move, he reunited with former teammates at Micah Hyde’s annual charity softball game in Buffalo over the weekend. While Allen has faced criticism for occasionally forcing plays and being reckless with the ball, he remains one of the most talented, powerful, and accurate passers in the game. Additionally, he’s a formidable force in the open field, nearly impossible to tackle.
Even though not everyone may share Poyer’s view, Allen is undeniably a top-five quarterback. The Bills just need someone else to knock out the Chiefs in the playoffs.
