Breaking: BYU Football Receives Commitment for a superstar player

BYU Football Secures Commitment from Bay Area Recruit Kelepi Vete

PROVO, Utah – The 2025 recruiting class for BYU football is gaining momentum.

On Monday night, BYU secured a commitment from Kelepi Vete, a three-star defensive lineman from Oakland, California. Vete announced his decision on X with the message, “East Oakland to Provo, Town Business. #GoCougs.”

Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 255 pounds, Vete is ranked as the 100th best prospect in California for the 2025 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Vete chose BYU over offers from other Big 12 schools such as Arizona, Arizona State, and Baylor, as well as Cal and Stanford. His decision to pass on Stanford is particularly noteworthy since his twin brother, Siosiua, is committed to Stanford for the 2025 class.

Last season, Vete played at Tennyson High School, having previously attended Fremont High School in Oakland, where current BYU signees Naki Tuakoi and Sefo Akuila also played.

With Vete’s commitment, BYU now has five recruits in their 2025 class, including Tyler Payne from Weber, Riverton kicker Will Walker, tight end Blake Bryce from Newbury Park, California, and Las Vegas running back Cale Breslin, who committed last week.

BYU’s interest in Vete was evident throughout last season as they consistently sent recruiting edits to the versatile lineman, who has experience playing both defensive end and tackle.

Vete is scheduled to make an official visit to BYU from June 20-23.
