Virginia Tech football strengthens its defensive line with the addition of Alabama transfer Khurtiss Perry, who committed to the Hokies on Tuesday night. Despite retaining key players like Antwaun Powell-Ryland and Josh Fuga on the defensive line, head coach Brent Pry pursued depth in the transfer portal, securing commitments from Aeneas Peebles from Duke, Kemari Copeland from Iowa Western Community College, and Kelvin Gilliam from Oklahoma.

Perry’s commitment further enhances Virginia Tech’s defensive line depth, making it one of the deepest in the ACC. The 54th overall prospect in the Class of 2022, Perry opted for Virginia Tech over Indiana, Wisconsin, and Louisville. Regarded as a four-star prospect out of high school, Perry’s addition adds another formidable option for opposing teams to contend with next season.

In addition to Perry, Pry and his staff also secured commitments from offensive lineman Montavious Cunningham from Georgia State and linebacker Sam Brumfield from Middle Tennessee State. Earlier, Virginia Tech landed quarterback Collin Schlee from UCLA, filling the void left by Dylan Wittke’s departure to Minnesota for the 2024 season.
