The Dallas Cowboys are considering signing a quarterback who has thrown 23 touchdowns after an extensive trial period. Another quarterback who has caught the attention of the Cowboys is former Northwest Missouri State player Mike Hohensee Jr. With the team lacking a quarterback for rookie minicamp due to not drafting or signing one, Hohensee was brought in for a tryout and has already made a positive impression.
According to Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News on May 10, 2024, Hohensee, along with second-round pick Marshawn Kneeland, is among the few unsigned players at the minicamp. The Cowboys coaching staff is impressed with Hohensee’s performance, but his presence poses a dilemma as the team already has Dak Prescott, Cooper Rush, and Trey Lance under contract for the upcoming season.
With Prescott entering the final year of his current contract, there is significant interest in the quarterback position. Head coach Mike McCarthy spoke highly of Hohensee’s early impact during a press conference on May 10, noting his ability to command the huddle and grasp the offensive concepts quickly.
