AC Milan is facing a significant defensive crisis as they prepare for their Serie A encounter with Juventus this weekend. A combination of injuries and suspensions has left them scrambling for solutions.
Following the recent derby defeat against Inter, both Davide Calabria and Theo Hernandez received red cards, leaving them ineligible for the upcoming clash. Additionally, Fikayo Tomori’s yellow card suspension adds to the defensive woes, sidelining three regular starters.
With Pierre Kalulu and Simon Kjaer also nursing injuries, coach Stefano Pioli finds himself with limited options and unable to field his preferred defensive lineup. Consequently, makeshift arrangements will be made, likely featuring Matteo Gabbia and Malick Thaiw as the starting center-backs.
Alessandro Florenzi will need to adapt to either the right or left defensive position, while either Yunus Musah or Filippo Terracciano, both primarily midfielders, may fill the remaining flank.
In the absence of key players, Pioli may need to rely on youth team members for depth, potentially leading to unfamiliar faces on the bench at the Allianz Stadium.
