Arsenal is reportedly set to secure their first summer transfer by offering Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee a five-year contract. This move comes in response to Mikel Arteta’s need for a striker, especially with Gabriel Jesus and the likely departing Eddie Nketiah combining for just 14 goals this season, nine of which were in the Premier League.
Zirkzee, who has notched 12 goals this season, has caught the eye of several European clubs with his performances, prompting Arsenal to act swiftly. At 22 years old, Zirkzee is seen as a player with room for further development and has drawn comparisons to Brazilian legend Ronaldinho for his skillful footwork.
While Italian giants Milan and Juventus are leading the chase for the Dutchman, Arsenal has made an early move by offering him a deal until 2029 with a weekly wage of approximately £99,000. However, competition for Zirkzee’s signature is expected to intensify in the coming weeks.
Recent reports also suggest that Serie A champions Inter Milan are considering a move for Zirkzee, potentially posing a significant threat to Arsenal’s pursuit. A decision from Inter regarding an official approach is expected soon. Despite previous links with other clubs, Zirkzee has expressed contentment at Bologna, emphasizing his focus on contributing to the team’s success rather than seeking a move to a bigger club.
