Derrick Henry, newly signed with the Baltimore Ravens, shared his thoughts on his teammate Lamar Jackson, praising him as a “cool guy” as they both aim for a Super Bowl victory.
Formerly with the Tennessee Titans, Henry had a productive 17-game season in 2023, finishing second in rushing yards to Christian McCaffrey with 1,167 yards. Transitioning to free agency, he secured a two-year contract worth $16 million with the Baltimore Ravens.
Henry, known as one of the most formidable running backs in the NFL, joins the Ravens as they seek to build on their AFC Championship run from the previous year. Henry, boasting five 1,000-yard seasons in Tennessee, aligns with a Ravens team that led the league in rushing yards in 2023, largely thanks to Jackson’s impressive performance of 821 yards. With Jackson and Henry now on the same team, the Ravens appear poised for success in the upcoming season.
Henry’s admiration for Jackson underscores the positive team dynamics, noting Jackson’s leadership qualities and great energy. He remarked, “You can tell he’s a great leader by how everybody flocks to him. He has great energy as well.” Henry expressed his excitement about the shared goal of winning a Super Bowl, emphasizing his commitment to the team and the organization.
Throughout his successful eight-year tenure with Tennessee, Henry amassed impressive stats, including 9,502 rushing yards and 90 touchdowns. His accolades include being named First-team All-Pro (2020), Second-team All-Pro (2019), NFL Offensive Player of the Year (2020), and earning four Pro Bowl selections.
