Florida Football: Enoch Wangoy Fast-tracks Enrollment to Join Gators in 2024
Enoch Wangoy, a towering 6’8″ prospect originally slated for the class of 2025, has opted to accelerate his enrollment and will be suiting up for the Gators this upcoming season.
Under Billy Napier’s innovative approach, Florida Football has been actively seeking unconventional talents to bolster its roster, and Wangoy’s decision to reclassify aligns with this strategy.
Hailing from Manchester, England, Wangoy relocated to Jacksonville at the age of 16. Despite being earmarked for the class of 2025, he pledged his commitment to the Gators just last month.
Primarily eyeing the offensive tackle position, Wangoy showcased versatility by also featuring as a defensive end for the Zarephath Academy Eagles, an institution not affiliated with FHSAA.
With an impressive seven-foot wingspan and a diverse athletic background encompassing basketball and soccer, Wangoy’s transition to football is relatively recent. Nonetheless, his imposing physical stature and willingness to assert himself on the field caught Napier’s attention.
While Wangoy’s reclassification positions him in the 2024 cohort, it’s acknowledged that his immediate playing prospects for the upcoming season may be limited. However, his combination of size and agility hints at considerable developmental potential, suggesting that he could emerge as a formidable lineman for the Gators in the seasons to come.
