Milan has set a substantial but not exorbitant budget for acquiring a new striker, with approximately €50 million earmarked for the endeavor. This potential expenditure would mark the highest fee ever paid for a striker in the club’s history. However, there is uncertainty whether this sum will be sufficient to secure their desired targets, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Among their preferred options is Joshua Zirkzee, who has shown promise but has a complex situation due to clauses favoring Bayern Munich, potentially allowing them to recall him for €40 million. Other clubs may face higher price tags for Zirkzee, especially if Premier League clubs enter the fray.
Meanwhile, the potential transfer of Viktor Gyokeres to England is expected to surpass Milan’s budget threshold. Similarly, Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez may command a higher valuation, contrasting with Benjamin Sesko, whose release clause aligns with Milan’s budget.
Milan remains interested in Jonathan David from Lille, a target also pursued by Napoli. While the budget may be sufficient to persuade Lille to sell David, acquiring him would require patience and determination.
Overall, while Zirkzee would be an ideal choice, Milan must navigate various factors affecting his future. Although the budget may not secure a top-tier player, it should be adequate for securing a quality addition, albeit at a higher price point compared to their previous acquisitions.
