Milan’s pursuit of a new striker has been ongoing for the past year, with Oliver Giroud set to depart this summer, creating a pressing need for a replacement. However, reports indicate that they may face competition from a Serie A rival for one of their desired targets.
Throughout this season, the focus for Milan has not been whether they will sign a new striker, but rather when they will do so. Both fans and the club recognize the importance of investing in a quality number nine to drive the team forward. Despite this recognition, questions have persisted as Milan carefully assesses the market to find a striker who offers both value for money and the ability to deliver the necessary performance.
While Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko have been admired options, it is Joshua Zirkzee who has captured Milan’s attention the most. Jonathan David, who was once among the favored trio, has somewhat fallen out of favor, though he remains a potential target for Serie A.
According to a report from Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), recent discussions have taken place between Canadian forward Jonathan David and Napoli’s soon-to-be sporting director, Giovanni Manna. These talks centered around the financial aspects of a potential move to Napoli, with an agreement reportedly reached with the player himself. David is said to be offered a salary of €3 million per season if he joins Napoli. However, Napoli must now negotiate with Lille to match the club’s asking price, which is believed to be around €50 million.
