Two Former Florida Gators Re-Enter Transfer Portal After Single Season
Reports indicate that two former Florida Gators football players have re-entered the transfer portal after spending just one season at their new schools.
Corey Collier, a former Gators defensive back, transferred to Nebraska last year after appearing in only five games during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. However, his stint with the Cornhuskers didn’t yield much success, as he has now returned to the transfer portal, as reported by Matt Zenitz of 247sports. Zenitz stated, “Nebraska defensive back Corey Collier has entered the transfer portal, Chris Hummer and I have learned for 247sports. Collier, a former top-100 recruit who transferred to Nebraska from Florida, played in five games for Nebraska last season.”
Collier, originally signed with the Gators in 2021, was ranked as the No. 90 overall prospect by 247. Despite leaving Florida with two tackles and a sack, he failed to record a tackle in five games with Nebraska.
Similarly, offensive lineman David Conner, who joined the Gators in 2022, departed for Colorado after just one season. Now, he has re-entered the transfer portal, as reported by On3’s Pate Nakos. Nakos wrote, “Colorado offensive lineman David Conner has entered the transfer portal, On3sports has learned.”
Conner, rated as a three-star recruit in 2022 by On3, did not see any action for the Gators in his freshman year before moving to the Deion Sanders-led Buffaloes. Despite the offensive line challenges faced by Sanders in his inaugural season, Conner did not feature for Colorado last year, according to his Colorado Buffaloes bio.
