Arsenal and Manchester United have shown interest in acquiring AC Milan’s Rafael Leao in the upcoming summer transfer window, according to reports from Spanish outlet Fichajes.
Having joined AC Milan from LOSC Lille in 2019, the 24-year-old forward has earned recognition as one of Serie A’s top performers, contributing to his team’s Serie A title victory a couple of seasons ago. While Leao’s start to the current season was modest, he has recently showcased promising form, tallying 12 goals and 10 assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.
Arsenal, impressed by Leao’s performances for Milan, are eyeing him as a potential addition to bolster their attacking options during the off-season. However, Milan’s valuation of £128m presents a significant obstacle for the Gunners, who are also considering reinforcements in other areas of the squad.
Manchester United has also expressed interest in securing Leao’s services and appears ready to intensify their pursuit, potentially complicating Arsenal’s pursuit of the Portuguese forward. Leao primarily operates on the left wing and is known for his speed, strength, dribbling ability, creativity, and goal-scoring prowess.
Despite his talent, Leao’s defensive work rate doesn’t align with the high-pressing systems favored by both Arsenal and Manchester United managers. Moreover, his hefty price tag may deter potential suitors, prompting them to explore alternative options unless Milan adjusts their valuation.
