Nottingham Forest has been plagued by injuries since their promotion to the Premier League, making it rare for manager Steve Cooper to have a fully fit squad last season. In fact, only Chelsea experienced more injury woes than Forest during the 2022/23 campaign. This season hasn’t been much better for the Reds, with data showing they’re around mid-table for days lost due to injuries. However, it’s often the key players who are affected.
Nuno Espirito Santo, Forest’s current manager, has faced challenges since his arrival. Despite winning two of his first three games, January saw a flurry of injuries and departures for the AFCON tournament. Players like Ola Aina have only recently returned to action, while Taiwo Awoniyi and Nuno Tavares, who were performing well under Espirito Santo, are yet to return.
However, there’s some positive news now. Recent information suggests that Forest may soon have a fully fit squad available for the remainder of the campaign.
