The Denver Broncos have secured former New Orleans Saints guard Calvin Throckmorton, marking yet another acquisition by former Saints head coach Sean Payton. Throckmorton, who initially joined the Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2021, has agreed to a one-year contract with the Broncos.
During his tenure with the Saints, Throckmorton swiftly earned a spot in the starting lineup, starting in 14 of 17 games in his rookie season. He continued with the team as a backup in 2022 before parting ways with them later that offseason. Throckmorton spent a significant portion of the previous season with the Carolina Panthers, starting in 7 of 9 games, before being waived. He then fulfilled a reserved role with the Tennessee Titans for the remainder of the season.
Throckmorton is expected to bolster depth within Denver’s offensive line, supporting established guards Quinn Meinerz and Ben Powers. His experience and familiarity with Payton’s system make him a valuable addition. Fans can anticipate seeing Throckmorton potentially return to the Superdome later this fall.
