Zac Taylor remains optimistic about Tee Higgins’ potential for the upcoming season with the Bengals, despite the trade request that surfaced from Higgins’ camp as free agency began. Although the Bengals have placed the franchise tag on Higgins for the 2024 season, his agent, David Mulugheta, is pursuing a long-term contract for him.
This isn’t the first time the Bengals have faced a trade request from an offensive starter, with Jonah Williams being the other instance following last year’s signing of Orlando Brown Jr. Despite the ongoing trade discussions, Zac Taylor expressed his confidence in Higgins during the AFC coach’s breakfast in Orlando, succinctly stating, “We’re excited for Tee to have a great year for us. We think he’s our best chance to help us win a Super Bowl. I’ve enjoyed working with Tee the last four years and expect this year to be no different,” as reported by Jay Morrison of Pro Football Network.
Since being drafted in 2020, Higgins has been instrumental in the Bengals’ success and has developed a strong rapport with quarterback Joe Burrow. Although trade offers for Higgins are being entertained, the front office led by Duke Tobin may choose to maintain the status quo. As of now, Taylor anticipates Higgins being a part of the Bengals for the 2024 season.
