A Sunderland transfer target, Liam Millar, is uncertain about his future as he reflects on his successful season at Preston. Millar, a former Liverpool player, has been on loan from Swiss club FC Basel to North End since last summer. With five goals and five assists in 31 Championship appearances, Millar’s performances caught the attention of Sunderland during the January transfer window. However, when questioned about his plans for the future before joining the Canadian national team, Millar stated, “I have no idea what will happen next season. We’ll deal with that when the time comes.”
Reflecting on his current season and his return to England, Millar expressed his desire to prove himself in English football after leaving Liverpool. He articulated, “I felt I had something to prove in England. Leaving Liverpool, I always aimed to return and demonstrate my capability in the Championship. Hopefully, one day I can prove myself worthy of Premier League football.” He highlighted the challenges he faced in Switzerland, particularly off the field, due to language barriers and being far from his family. Millar emphasized the significance of being back in England, especially in the northwest where his family resides, as it has positively influenced his performance on the pitch.
Preston currently sits in ninth place in the Championship table, trailing five points behind a playoff position with eight games remaining in the season.
