An NFL insider suggests that the Broncos are unlikely to trade up and believe they can succeed with Jarrett Stidham as their starting quarterback for the upcoming 2024 season. However, this viewpoint might face skepticism from Broncos fans. During a recent Q&A session on NFL+, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network made an intriguing comment regarding the Broncos’ quarterback situation.
When asked about which team, between the Broncos and Raiders, would benefit most from drafting a quarterback early, Rapoport indicated that the Raiders might be more inclined to do so. He pointed out that Sean Payton, the Broncos’ head coach, has a history of winning games with quarterbacks who may not be considered as skilled as Stidham. Rapoport suggested that the Broncos might not feel an urgent need to draft a quarterback because of Stidham’s perceived talent and their confidence in developing raw talent.
Sean Payton has achieved success with various quarterbacks during his coaching career, including those who were not considered top-tier talents. This includes names like Kent Graham, Quincy Carter, and Drew Henson, among others. Payton has also expressed confidence in Stidham’s potential, describing him as a quarterback capable of becoming a starter in the NFL. However, it remains uncertain how Stidham’s potential promotion to the starting role would be received by Broncos fans.
