The EFL has announced adjustments affecting QPR, Charlton Athletic, Millwall, and their rivals for the final day of the Championship season. QPR, Watford, and Millwall will all be away on the last day of the season. Additionally, the EFL has finalized the dates for the Championship, League One, and League Two play-offs. Notably, the league has altered the kick-off times for the final day of the season across all divisions, impacting London clubs such as QPR, Charlton Athletic, and Millwall.
Watford and Leyton Orient, representing Championship and League One respectively, have also experienced changes in their season finale kick-off times. All Championship matches on May 4 will now commence at 12:30, while all League One fixtures on April 27 will kick off at the same time. This announcement sparked discontent among football fans, as expressed on social media platforms.
QPR is scheduled to face Coventry City on the final day of the season, aiming to secure their position in the second tier under Marti Cifuentes’ management. Similarly, Neil Harris leads Millwall to Swansea City for the season’s closure. Watford faces a lengthy journey to Middlesbrough, with their fans among the most affected by the earlier kick-off time.
QPR has released a statement confirming the change in kick-off time for their final-day fixture, which remains on May 4 but now starts at 12:30 pm BST instead of the previously scheduled 3 pm. Ticket details will be provided in due course.
In League One, Charlton Athletic visits Wycombe Wanderers, while Leyton Orient heads to Shrewsbury Town on the last day. None of the London clubs in the Championship or League One seem poised to challenge for the play-offs, with Leyton Orient being the closest to a potential trip to Wembley Stadium. The Championship Play-Off final is set for May 26, while the League One Play-Off Final will take place on May 18.
