Charlton Athletic’s rising star, Nathan Asiimwe, has earned his maiden call-up to the Uganda senior squad ahead of their upcoming friendly matches against Comoros and Ghana. The 19-year-old defender, who recently secured a new long-term contract with Charlton in December, has been a key figure with 23 appearances this season.
Expressing his delight, Asiimwe shared his feelings with Charlton’s official website, stating, “It’s a proud moment for me and my family. It was unexpected as well – I just found out at the start of this week. I’m looking forward to experiencing the changing environment as I’ve been at Charlton my whole life and I haven’t really experienced anything like this before, so hopefully it goes well. I’m looking forward to training and helping the team in the matches as well. We’ve got good fixtures coming up so I’m just going to try and do my best like I always do.”
Meanwhile, Karoy Anderson and Michael Hector have been selected for the Jamaica squad for their CONCACAF Nations League semi-final against the USA.
